Meet Jonno.

As a father of 3 boys, I know that one of the most important elements for a successful life is excellent communication and as a Deputy Principal and high school English teacher it is my goal to not only prepare students to communicate clearly and insightfully, but to equip them with the skills to interpret, analyse and respond to the ever-changing world around them.

It is my passion and joy as an educator, to watch students grow and mature as they engage in the process of learning, from making mistakes to the perfect execution of a task. It is our privilege as educators to helps students enjoy learning, because a student who enjoys learning, enjoys all that life has to offer.

I enjoy making the most of what this beautiful part of Australia has to offer, from bike riding and fishing to the local live arts scene and just lazy afternoons on the beach. I am looking forward to continuing in the life abundant that God has for me!

Meet David.

Hi, I’m David.

I love teaching and getting to know the kids I teach. I find it very rewarding to see kids grow in their knowledge of God and the world he has made.

I enjoy getting out and about with my family in the beautiful area we live in! We particularly like the bike paths, and the range of picnic and swimming spots.

When I get the chance, I also like to have a round of golf.

Meet Glenn.

Hello, I’m Glenn.

I will be teaching Year 6 in 2018. I have been teaching since 1981, starting out in Mt Druitt (Sydney), Penrith, the Central Coast, Mullumbimby, Grafton, Maclean and on the beautiful Isle of Wight (UK). I taught in the NSW public school system until 2000 when God called me into Christian education.  I’m relishing the opportunity to continue leading the Primary department as Primary coordinator as we have an awesome student body and an equally awesome teaching team.

I love impacting the lives of young men and women, being able to make a difference in so many lives and, now, being able to share the joy I have in being a follower of Christ. I love that I can be me in front of the students, staff and parents and have fun doing what I’m doing. To have a new opportunity each day to teach something new to someone and to prepare them for life is a real privilege and to be able to do it in a Christian environment is an added bonus. I can also be a real “dag” sometimes and tell really sick jokes over and over again and make people laugh – that’s what I love to do!

I love walking on the beach with my wife, swimming and enjoying local coffee shops (double shot long blacks – just in case people feel inclined to bless me) and spending time with friends and family.

Meet Julie.

Hi. I’m Julie.

I have the best allocation in the school: Pre Kindy

I love teaching! It is such a privilege to sow into young lives and so rewarding to see them delight in achieving some new skill or knowledge. In Pre Kindy children are like sponges and love to learn. And every day these children say or do something that is very amusing!

I come originally from the flat dry area of Northern Victoria. So there are lots of things to enjoy  here, especially the hills which are often green, the ocean and the opportunity for great walking places and being outdoors.

Meet Meg.

Hi, I’m Meg.

I will be teaching Year 2 in 2018.

I love children and the joy they bring to the classroom every day. I love being around young people and enjoy  helping them ignite the love of learning. I feed off their enthusiasm and I strive to have a happy room. Our class motto is to be Kind, Loving and Patient, and we pray for this every day.

I feel incredibly blessed to be here in Ballina. This is a place where we can enjoy so much that others never get to experience. I Love Love Love the beach and swimming in the ocean! It truly is gift form God that I appreciate so much, especially after teaching out west for 10 or so years. I love the coffee shops and the movies and all the local markets and local community events.

Meet Sam.

Hello, I’m Sam.

I teach Primary infants at Richmond and have been teaching Year One most recently.

I became a teacher to teach children the skills of life, whether it be academic or social and this is what I enjoy most. At Richmond it is a wonderful privilege to share how much God loves each student and help them develop a caring attitude towards others.

My personal interests involve anything outdoors, surfing, mountain biking and connecting with my family, church and community.

Meet Jonathan

Hi, I’m Jono.

I teach Year 4 on Mondays and Tuesdays.  I am excited to be returning to Richmond Christian College after a short time here in 2017.

I love the energy young people bring to the classroom, and trying to encourage and harness their passion and help my students love God and life more, is what I enjoy most about teaching.  I also place a high importance on ensuring students feel safe in their classroom and learn to care for, support and love others.

My wife, four daughters and I moved into the Northern NSW area 18 months ago and thoroughly enjoy the wonderful beaches, creeks and camping spots this amazing area has!

Meet Peita.

Hi! I’m Peita.

I teach in the primary school and love being part of the RCC community. It is a real privilege being able to share the hope we have in the death and resurrection of our Saviour Jesus with our students and families. My prayer for all our students is that they would put their trust, and find their assurance, in Jesus and that they would discover their God-given gifts and learn how to use these for His glory as they serve Him and others.

I really enjoy sharing each students’ learning journey with them over a year, celebrating successes, encouraging them to persevere, giving them challenges and watching them grow and mature as they develop their love of learning.

I love spending time with my family. Whether that be at home on our Friday night games night, or outdoors playing tennis, playing at the beach or going for walks.

Meet Kristy.

My name is Kristy Suffolk and I have the privilege of teaching Kindergarten this year.

I feel really blessed to be teaching at Richmond with such wonderful staff, students and families. I really love working in such a caring, supportive God-loving community. I love to watch my students grow in both their love of God and their academic, social and emotional achievements.

As a mum of 3 girls I don’t have a lot of free time but as a family we love exploring our local area and bike riding and scootering along the local bike ways.

Meet Penny.

Hi, my name is Penny Woolley and I have the great privilege of teaching Year 5 this year. I began teaching at Richmond Christian College in 2017. Prior to this I taught for 14 years at Cedars Christian Collage in Wollongong and 3 years in the NSW public school system. I have a real passion for teaching and enjoy watching each student in my class grow in their God given talents. I have 3 sons and attend Life Church, Ballina. My husband is also a teacher. Outside of teaching I am an avid fundraiser and supporter for an organisation called Operation Smile and the country I am associated with is Vietnam. I have attended 3 missions in Vietnam and witnessed over 250 children and babies have their lives transformed through corrective surgery for cleft lip and/or cleft palate.  I feel very blessed to work at Richmond Christian Collage. I particularly love the sense of community and genuine love and care the staff have for students and their families.

Meet Ian.

Hi my name is Ian Coutts.  I really enjoy teaching for two reasons.

Firstly I am able to talk to students about Jesus. I enjoy being able to discuss the Bible and share about my personal faith with the students. I also appreciate how students have so many different beliefs and so having the opportunity to meet them where they are at and hopefully help them learn a bit more about Jesus is very exciting for me.

Secondly, I really enjoy teaching because of the growth you get to see in all students. It is wonderful to see students develop their learning and skills through out a year. Being a part of that is special!

I enjoy a range of things in this area. I love spending time with my family, my church family and my friends. I also love exploring God’s creation on the North Coast when I can. There is lots to see and do!

Meet Matthew.

Hi there, I’m Matthew.

Teaching Science from a Christian perspective to secondary students is a privilege and a challenge.

I really enjoy broadening the perspectives of our students, deepening their knowledge and understanding of the world, and learning a lot myself along the way!

Principles of Physics also help me get the most out of my sailing boat which I try to use on our local waterway as much as possible.

Meet Belinda.

Teaching is my life – it is the career that I believe God wanted me to be in. It is a career that constantly encourages me to improve, to evaluate, and to seek to do better. Teaching both challenges and rewards me; it confronts complacency and dares me to lift the bar.

I want to be continually growing personally, professionally and spiritually as my commitment to the task of teaching Christianly deepens. My aim is to grow in my ability to articulate and implement a distinctively Christian instructional philosophy and practice. My Christianity, therefore, becomes the backbone and essence of my teaching. My role is to impact upon each and every student, to make a difference in their lives and to embark with them on the journey of learning.

In 2018, I will be teaching Junior High School English (Years 7, 8 & 9), and both Stage 5 and Stage 6 Visual Arts. I am looking forward to an exciting year ahead, entrusted with students from different backgrounds with different skills, talents and dreams. These amazing young people colour the life of the classroom, impact on each other (and me) and share in each other’s journey. What a privilege!

Meet Brad.

Hello, I’m Brad Gilmore.

I enjoy teaching Secondary Mathematics and PDHPE. I am also the sports coordinator, organising our carnivals and sports gala days for Richmond. One of my favourite parts of this role is giving students the opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, as well as represent the school at further levels – especially in team sports.

I love living in Ballina because it’s a beautiful town to raise my two sons. I like playing most sports, especially touch football, oztag and golf.

Meet Leonie.

Hello. I’m Leonie and I teach Japanese, History/Geography and Visual Arts.

Introducing students to information they may not know is exciting and helping them learn about other cultures and speak another language is highly rewarding.

We are blessed by an abundance of natural beauty in this area. I thoroughly enjoy trail riding through our beautiful hills as well as along our pristine beaches.

Meet Sarah.

Hello. I’m Sarah.

I currently teach Advanced English and Drama. I am passionate about stories, and fascinated by the power that words and stories have over the way that we think and relate to one another.

I love teaching my students how to think deeply, to have greater empathy and to be creative.

When I am not at Richmond Christian College I enjoy seeing the beauty of God’s creation over coffee and conversation at The Farm in Ewingsdale.

Meet Elise.

It’s my pleasure to join the Richmond Christian College teaching staff in 2018 after getting to know the community as a casual teacher throughout 2017. After completing a double Bachelor in Music and Secondary Education I began my teaching career in 2008 and have taught in public and private systems in Brisbane and Canberra, including Citipointe Christian College and Canberra Girls Grammar School. My experience spans both primary and secondary teaching in Music and English, and with co-curricular specialisations in strings, choirs and concert bands, including coordinating international music tours for school ensembles. This year I have the pleasure of teaching across a range of disciplines in both the primary and secondary schools, including secondary English classes.

For me, teaching is not only a rewarding experience but a God-given privilege, and my particular joy is in building a connection with my students to bring out their unique perspectives and talents, and to work with them to understand their potential and God’s purpose for their lives.

When I’m not playing music with my husband or writing stories, I will be found walking the beautiful headlands with my dog.

Meet Michelle.

Hello, I’m Michelle.

I teach Music, Geography & Mandatory Technology in the Secondary and in 2018 will be teaching music to the Primary classes.

I enjoy teaching because I love seeing doors open for young people into new and rewarding experiences.

And I love the “a-ha” moment when someone understands a new concept!

I enjoy the beaches and waterholes in the local area.

Meet Stefan.

Hi, I’m Stefan and I teach IST, Bible, Science and Mathematics.

I love seeing students learn and grow by acquiring knowledge about God, themselves and the world around them. I love seeing students realising their own capacity to succeed especially when faced with obstacles and challenges (like mathematics!).

I also love teaching students about God through His word and helping them to understand His genuine and ever-present love for them. It is my absolute privilege to explore the Bible and dive into some deep questions with high school students. I love it!

I enjoy exercising and staying fit. I also love watching movies, reading books, drinking coffee, being with friends and the occasional session on the Xbox.

Meet Michelle.

Hi. I’m Michelle

I teach Secondary PDHPE, PASS, Mandatory Technology and Bible.

To teach has been a dream of mine since I was very young.  Teaching is so much more than imparting educational knowledge, it’s being able to understand and apply this knowledge to life.  I get to do this each day through a Biblical Worldview at RCC, especially in PDH where the content is extremely applicable to everyday life. I love teaching young people, seeing them engage in the content and activities, enjoying learning, working together, developing skills and strategies, overcoming challenges, discovering their passions and growing in their individual, God given, gifts and abilities.

I enjoy going for walks and bike rides along the river, going to Church, swimming at the beach and Lake Ainsworth, going to the movies, dining and having coffee with family and friends.  I also enjoy playing Netball.

Meet Nicki.

I am thrilled to be joining the Richmond Christian College team as Learning and Support Teacher K-12 in 2018. Originally from the Gold Coast, I have a Masters in Special Education and have been fortunate enough to teach students with additional needs in Sydney, London and rural British Columbia in Canada.

I believe every student is an individual who is blessed with unique gifts and I am grateful for the opportunity to assist them in reaching their full potential in every aspect of school life.

I love being out in the sunshine and writing in my free time. Last year I was delighted to have my first children’s picture book published.

Meet Debbie.

Hello, I’m Debbie. In 2018 I will be part time at Richmond Christian College teaching Year 2 on Fridays and other primary classes on Wednesdays while the classroom teachers have release time.

I love teaching children and seeing them grow and develop into young adults. My goal in the classroom is to make learning fun and enjoyable by creating a safe and caring environment where students can explore and take risks to exceed their potential.

I grew up in Lismore and, along with my husband and three boys, have moved back to the beautiful Ballina area. I love the coastal lifestyle and especially enjoy catching up with friends and family, long beach walks, swimming and fishing.

Meet Alison.

Hey I’m Alison.

I have been working at Richmond Christian College since 2013 supporting children and helping them in and out of the classroom. I love seeing kids smile, enjoying life and discovering new things. Each one of them is precious and a blessing to our school.

My favourite things are being with my family, watching them play their different sports, having bike rides, swimming at the beach, having home movie nights and sewing.

It is a wonderful privilege to be able to play my violin for Jesus at church and school. I love God and hugely appreciate his love and care for me. With his help I try and show that same love and care to others.

Meet Janelle.

Hello, I’m Janelle.

I work at the school as the Principal’s Assistant on the Administration team in the school office.

I love being part of Richmond Christian College and helping Mr Binks, the staff, school board and students with the myriad of tasks that arise each day. It is a privilege to be able to start each day with other staff members reading the Bible and praying and being part of God’s work in our school.

Our local area is filled with the beauty of God’s magnificent creation and I enjoy being outside in my garden, walking my dog or being beside the ocean. I also enjoy going to church, spending time with family, reading and cross stitching.
